Earning Rules Use Case: Birthday events

The goal for this loyalty rule is to reward users during their birthday week. For the 3 days before, the day of their birthday, and for 3 days after their birthday, they’ll receive 3x the points for every dollar spent. This strategy can be effective when you want to generate goodwill with customers by celebrating their birthday with them.

Specifically, our scenario involves 2 earning rules, a basic earning rule where users earn 1 point per dollar spent, and another rule where for a one week period the user will earn 2 points per dollar spent.

You will need to create two earning rules:

• Basic earning
• Birthday bonus

Basic earning rule

• Create your first rule and name it “Regular points”
• Add an appropriate description, date range, and set it as disabled
• Choose the always trigger effect condition

• Under effect, select the Cart Filter, Total with fees, taxes, and tip
• Save the rule

Birthday bonus rule

• Create your second rule and name it “Birthday bonus”
• Add an appropriate description, date range, and set it as disabled
• Choose the User’s birthday condition”
• Select the “is within a 7 days range from the current day” 
• Under effect, select the Cart Filter, Total with fees, taxes, and tip
• Add your multiplier to this amount

• Save the rule
• Once you are ready to activate your campaign, enable both rules
