MENU Link 2.0
Link 2.0 is primarily aimed at enhancing performance, improving stability, and enabling scalability for the future. With the code refactored from Menu to a new architecture, we can expect faster and more reliable menu updates.
- Architecture Enhancements:
- Leveraging Amazon S3 for menu data transmission due to SQS message size limitations.
- Utilizing Amazon SQS for independent scaling of each aggregator microservice with individual queues.
- Implementing a throttling mechanism using a dedicated service within the link service infrastructure.
- Data Flow and Processing Improvements:
-
Core sends menu updates to S3 for each enabled aggregator and notifies SNS, which pushes messages to the corresponding SQS.
-
Link service retrieves messages from SQS and menus from S3, processes them, and stores prepared menus in Redis.
-
The throttling service regulates message transmission to aggregators based on predetermined parameters.
-
- Architecture Enhancements:
- Order Readiness Notification to Drivers: For LINK orders placed through Doordash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub, we have implemented a feature that sends a notification to the driver when the restaurant staff marks the order as ready. This notification ensures that drivers are promptly informed when the order is ready for pickup, eliminating the need for them to enter the restaurant and manually check for order readiness.
