Context
Favorite locations provide users with a seamless way to save and quickly access their preferred dining options. By marking a restaurant as a favorite, users can locate their top picks instantly whenever they’re ready to order. This feature also empowers the marketing team to use favorites and location data for targeted promotions, further engaging users with tailored offers.
How does it work?
Management Center (Brand Level)
Brand managers can enable and customize the Favorite Locations feature within the configuration settings on the Management Center. Follow these steps:
- Access Favorite Locations Settings
- Navigate to the Brand Level of the dashboard.
- Go to Configuration > Stores > Settings tab.
- Enable the Feature
- By default, favorite locations are disabled.
- Toggle the button to enable the feature.
- Customize Favorites Options
- Choose whether customers can save a single favorite store per account or multiple favorites.
- Save Settings
- After configuring the settings, click Save to apply the changes.
Once activated, customers can start using the feature within the ordering apps.
Important Note
As part of this update, the Store Locations and Assigned Stores options have been merged into the new Stores page, where Favorite Locations settings are now located.
Web App User Experience
Depending on the settings in MC, the app can behave differently:
- If single favorite store per account is enabled, the user will be able to select only one favorite location. If they try to select a new one, the previous favorite will be automatically replaced.
- If multiple favorites per account are enabled, the app will allow users to add as many favorite locations as they want.
Store Finders
In the store finder for Dine-in QS, Dine-in FS, Takeout, Catering Pickup, and a separate store finder for Delivery order types, we’re introducing a "Favorite" filter button alongside the "Nearest" button.
Nearest Button List
- Displays all restaurants filtered by order type and location, sorted by proximity to the selected location.
- Each restaurant card features a heart button that users can tap to add the restaurant to their favorites list.
- After adding a restaurant to favorites, it remains visible in the nearest list while also becoming available in the favorites list.
- Favorite restaurants can be removed from the nearest list by selecting the heart button again, causing them to disappear from the favorites list.
Favorite Button List
-
Displays all restaurants filtered by order type and location that have been added to favorites from the nearest list or directly from the restaurant menu page.
-
All restaurants are sorted with the most recently added at the top and the earlier ones at the bottom of the list.
-
From the favorites list, users can view all information about their favorite restaurants, including their status, just as they can in the nearest list.
-
Users can select a restaurant from the favorites list to access the menu.
-
Favorite restaurants can be removed from the favorites list by unselecting the heart button, causing them to disappear from the list.
-
If no favorite restaurants are found in the favorite list, an empty state is displayed.
Map Pins
-
Favorite restaurants are clearly marked with distinct pins on the map.
-
These favorite pins are visible in both the "Nearest" and "Favorite" lists.
-
The pins should automatically update on the map when switching between default and favorite restaurant.
-
Favorite pins change based on restaurant availability and indicate both open and unavailable statuses.
Menu
-
Restaurants can be added to the favorites list from the dedicated restaurant menu page and can be removed in the same way.
-
The process for adding and removing restaurants is identical to that in the store finders.
Important Notes
- This functionality is only available for logged-in users. Logged-out users can see the functionality but will not be able to use it until they log in.
-
This feature is not available for mobile apps.
