Dynamic Preparation Time is a feature that enables the setup of preparation times based on the total order amount.
How to Access
To access the Dynamic Preparation Time page, navigate to Capacity > Preparation Time in the left-hand menu. This option is available at both the brand and store levels.
Rules
Rules are settings that define the preparation time shown to customers. To configure these, you need to set two key parameters:
Preparation Time – The time displayed to customers during checkout and on the order confirmation page.
Dollar Amount – The threshold that determines which preparation time will be shown.
You can create as many rules as needed, but for each new rule, both the dollar amount and preparation time must be higher than those in the previous rule.
If you need to delete a rule that isn’t the last one in the list, you’ll have to delete all the preceding rules first.
How to create a rule
- Enter the desired threshold amount in the $ field to trigger the rule.
- Input the preparation time you want to display to customers.
- Click "Add Rule" to save.
Settings
The settings for dynamic preparation times is located in the Management Center. There are 2 levels: Brand and store level.
Brand level
At the Brand Level, settings can be managed by brand managers or by users with permission to access the capacity section in a custom role.
When you open the Dynamic Preparation Time page, you’ll see two tabs: New Stores and Specific Stores.
- New Stores: The rules in this tab apply automatically when a new store is created. These settings will control the preparation time displayed to customers upon store creation.
- Specific Stores: This tab allows you to set rules and apply them to selected stores.
- Applying Rules to Specific Stores:
- Click Apply.
- Select the checkboxes for the stores you want the rules to apply to.
- Click Apply and Distribute.
Store level
At the Store Level, there are no tabs, and any changes made to the rules will apply only to that specific store.

Customer Experience
There are two scenarios depending on the order type: ASAP or Scheduled.
- ASAP Orders: For ASAP orders, the preparation time will be displayed on the item selection page. Each time an item is added to the cart, the preparation time will update if the order amount meets the rule's threshold.
- Scheduled Orders: For scheduled orders, customers can choose a future time for their order, and the preparation time will be shown on the Checkout page.
FAQ
Can I use both default preparation time and dynamic preparation time?
No, you can only use one at a time. However, if you want behavior similar to the default preparation time, you can create a single rule that applies to orders of $0 or more, ensuring the same preparation time for all orders.
