The process is the same as with any default WordPress installation.
Creating static pages
In the left sidebar we navigate to:
- Pages -> Add new
- We are then taken to Gutenberg panel
- Here we can create our layout and add content
- Once our work is done and we are happy with it, we just click “Publish” - please bear in mind that in our current setup (February 2021) “publishing” does not mean that page will be visible in the internet just yet
- Instead if means “ready for publishing” - we need to export them later
Creating home page
The home page (landing page) is also created as a page:
- Pages -> Add new
- Work with content
- Click Publish
Extra components
The home page has extra Gutenberg components available for us:
Hero Banner
- Fully managed in WordPress
The hero banner is full width component.
We currently can specify 4 fields:
- Image
- Title (rendered as H1)
- Button text
- Button link
It is then rendered on the website:
Discounts (Coupons)
Two data sources: WordPress and PAR Ordering CMS.
The Discounts is a “mixed” component. In WordPress CMS, we have the ability to determine five things:
- Show button
- Button text
- Section title
- View all text
- Number of coupons shown
The data for discounts (coupons) come from the PAR Ordering CMS. The content creator has no control over them in WordPress.
Example layout:
Store locator
Two data sources: WordPress and PAR Ordering CMS.
The store locator, similar to the Coupons component, takes data from the PAR Ordering CMS (API).
In WordPress, we have the possibility to select text and image.
The data come from PAR Ordering API and the content creator has no control over them in WordPress.
Default restaurant
TODO
Example render:
Trending
Fully managed in the WordPress CMS.
Trending is a component that allows us to choose three posts from WordPress and display them as e.g. “featured posts”. Please bear in mind that we need to have some Posts created upfront. Only then we will see them in the list.
Example render:
We can see that the component pulls data automatically from the Post:
- Featured image
- Post title
- Post excerpt (teaser) - if no teaser provided, the WordPress takes the start of the article. It is better to create one manually (described later).
Store delivery
- Fully managed in WordPress
The user can add various platforms and provide dedicated links.
Example render:
Mobile Apps (Mobile Stores)
- Fully managed in the CMS
Marking as homepage
The WordPress allows us to select the homepage in:
- Settings -> Reading
- We then select “a static page” and from the dropdown menu select our page
