Jaws Licence for Clients
JAWS® License needs to be bought by clients in order to use this software.
We would normally recommend the following technique in order to have JAWS be able to navigate through sections when pressing the Up or Down arrows on the keypad.
-
In the code of the application, the name of each section needs to be tagged with the HTML heading tag (h1, h2, h3, etc.)
-
JAWS has the ability to jump between headings when a user on a regular keyboard presses the letter H or Shift+H. Pressing H moves to the next heading and Shift+H moves to the previous heading.
-
Using the Storm keypad utility, map the Up arrow to Shift+H and the Down arrow to H. This allows the kiosk user to press the Up or Down arrow to navigate the sections (i.e. headings in the page).
-
You could then map the Right arrow to the Tab key and the Left arrow to the Shift+Tab key. Doing this allows the user to move between focusable elements in the page.
-
We can create a kiosk configuration file based on the info you provided.
JAWS (Vispero) is the official screen reader partner for PAR Ordering Kiosk Accessibility.
Partnership is formed, and officially we suggest JAWS as a screen reader to clients
in US and Canada.
