Manually creating menus and mapping products is time-consuming for new brands. The PAR Ordering import tool solves this by automatically pulling menu data from a connected POS system and allowing users to import selected items into the platform.
How to use this POS importing tool?
- Access the import tool by clicking 'Import from POS' on the Menu V2 page.
* Location of the button may vary depending on whether a menu already exists.
* Available to users with permissions to access the POS mapping page. - Select the store group
* Only store groups with an Integration purpose will appear. -
After selecting a store group, menu data fetching begins.
-
The import screen will display all available menus (e.g., Delivery & Takeout, Dine-In, Special Menu), a search bar, a reload data button and a product tree view of selected menu.
* Menu structure is valid for 3 days. If POS changes, click 'Reload Data' to update.
* Switching menus will not save existing selections. - Select menu items
- Mixed state imports are allowed if requirements are met (e.g., combos or modifier groups). Only one product and one product group can be selected from a category in mixed state.
- Modifier Groups must meet minimum/maximum rules. (e.g., a group with a minimum of 2 modifiers must have at least 2 selected).
- Combo Groups must have at least one product per group selected.
- Mixed state imports are allowed if requirements are met (e.g., combos or modifier groups). Only one product and one product group can be selected from a category in mixed state.
- Finalise the import by clicking 'Import' to start the process.
* Menu entities are created, sorted, and mapped automatically.
* Takes up to 1 minute, depending on size and complexity.
Important: Menus are only assigned to the store group on import. You’ll need to assign channels and order types separately for publishing.
How to edit Post-Import?
- Already imported items will be marked with the "Already Imported" tag and cannot be re-selected.
- Users can continue to import remaining products/product groups from a previously mixed-state import.
Important Notes
Menu Management After Import
- The import tree always reflects the POS structure, not how menus are laid out in the management center (MC).
- If a product is imported from Edit View, it will be assigned to all instances of its parent across duplicated menus.
Example: If "Burgers" is duplicated into Lunch, Happy Hour, etc., importing “Bacon Burger” in Edit View will assign it to all instances of “Burgers.”
