Menu v2 - Nested Modifier Groups
When we learned that menus aren’t easy, we began building solutions to make setting up and managing menus across multiple channels a better experience for the restaurateur. Since a good menu requires categories, modifiers, modifications to the modifier, and perhaps even a different menu depending on the time of day, we developed a primary set of four entity types that we store in a tree-like structure to model these menus: Menus, categories, products, and modifier groups. Our model enables entity reuse without duplication, significantly reducing the workload for restaurateurs. When an entity needs updating, changes only need to be made once and will automatically appear across all references, streamlining menu management. We take it even further, we recognise that many of our brands operate across multiple locations, not just multiple channels. Since menus typically remain consistent across these locations, there's no need to maintain separate copies of each menu. To address this challenge, we developed menus. Menus act as a template to serve as digital blueprints that can be implemented across multiple locations, allowing restaurant operators to make changes just once on a single menu that automatically updates across all locations.
